Pack and Move

Hey guys, its been a long time I wrote. Sorry about that...
In our college, after the first year is over, the first year students are supposed to change rooms. The process of this is very cumbersome. First we have to go and buy cartons in which to put in all our stuff. Then we have to buy tapes to seal the cartons on all sides. We put all the stuff we can't carry home into this carton and then seal it with tapes. The cartons are usually old ones that used to carry biscuit or mixtures for the shop more . So they really aren't very reliable and hence we put in a lot of tapes to make sure they hold.

Two days before we were to leave the campus, we had started packing. The exams had just gotten over and all of us were lazy. Kartik was helping me pack. I had two cartons and we were putting lots of stuff in it. I am a little paranoid and over-thinker by nature so i was using a lot of tape, especially in the below part to make sure the box doesn't rupture. Kartik was nagging me about how it was a waste of time and how i should not use so much tape, but i didn't listen to him. I also had one large suitcase which i decided to leave behind. So, i also stuffed it with lots of stuff. Ironically , I ended up throwing most of the stuff in the new semester....

After finishing my packing, we went to Kartik's room. He hadn't even sorted anything so we sorted all the stuff. Half his bed was full of books and items he was going to pack.... and the whole floor was covered in wrappers from kurkure, lays and other stuff he had been collecting the entire semester. For a spiritual guy, he is unusually untidy.

Well, we first took out the trash and then went about packing. He used two small boxes. After he was done, we decided to go and keep our goods in the common room. One common room had been assigned to students of  wing and they had to keep their stuff there itself. I and Kartik made a total of three trips. To no one's surprise, mine took two trips. During Kartik's trip, one of his boxes opened from below and all the stuff he had packed fell down. It was hilarious given the fact that he was nagging me about using too much tape. He waited down as  I went to get the tape. After repacking it on the stairs itself, we went and submitted his boxes too.

Following this we went to check on other people. Sarvesh, Anil and Garv were in the Anil's room. He was having a shortage of boxes and was desperately trying to fit his stuff in the boxes he had. One thing about my gang is that we are extremely lazy. So, walking 10 mins and buying other box was definitely not on our list. After some time, Anil and Garv went out to ask if someone had spare cartons. That was the time when Sarvesh and I had a mischievous idea. We took Anil's mobile phone and put it well inside one of the cartons. It was hidden well and couldn't be seen. About 10 mins later, Anil and Garv returned with a spare carton and the packing was completed.

We then decided to go to mess and have dinner. So Anil went to his table to get his phone, but to his surprise, it wasn't there. He started searching for it everywhere. He searched his desk drawers, cupboards and below the bed. He even searched the entire length of corridor wondering if he had dropped it. Still, the phone was nowhere to be found. By now, he was sweating and his face was all tensed. I looked at Sarvesh. He was barely containing his laughter. I and Kartik were in a similar state. After 5 mins of more searching, Anil's phone started ringing. I guess it was a call from his home. I and Sarvesh started laughing uncontrollably. Anil figured out what has happened and turned towards us. His face was red with anger, yet his expression was comical and just served to fuel our laughter. He shouted at us and we ran . He started chasing us. I decided to run out of hostel towards the coffee shop while Sarvesh headed towards the washroom. Anil decided to go after Sarvesh. I went to have dinner and was joined in mess by Garv and Kartik who informed me that Sarvesh had locked himself in one of the bathrooms and Anil was waiting just outside shouting all kinds of curses.

That day, Sarvesh spent half an hour in washroom. When he came out, he was comically scared. His face had a mixed expression of laughter and fear . Anil had calmed down after we gave him an ice-cream.

Although the job of packing and moving had been cumbersome, this had been an extremely amusing night.
